Mashatu is located in Botswana’s Tuli Block in the far eastern corner of the country. It’s a massive 30000+ hectare private game reserve and, although there are no buffalo and rhino there, it’s one of the best places in the world to see and photograph big cats! Lions, cheetah and especially leopards are plentiful and relaxed at Mashatu and combined with the unique terrain, makes for some unforgettable wildlife photography opportunities.
Mashatu is also one of the best places to see and photograph elephants. If you come in the dry season, between June and October, you stand an excellent chance of seeing them at Photo Mashatu’s Matabole Underground Hide.
