Mozambique
Mozambique offers one of Africa’s most compelling combinations: a world-class conservation comeback story inland, and some of the most beautiful and unspoilt tropical coastline on the continent. From the recovering wilderness of Gorongosa National Park to the powder-white beaches, turquoise waters and remote islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago, this is a destination that delivers both exceptional wildlife and pure Indian Ocean paradise.

Mozambique Highlights
Gorongosa National Park is the heart of the safari experience. Once devastated by civil war, it has been restored into a thriving wilderness of lions, elephants, wild dogs, abundant plains game and some of the best birding in southern Africa, all set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Gorongosa and vast floodplains. Just a short flight away, the Bazaruto Archipelago — including Benguerra, Bazaruto and Magaruque — offers pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear water, excellent snorkelling and diving, and remote tropical luxury. Dugongs still inhabit these waters, whale sharks and manta rays are regularly seen in season, and the islands remain blissfully uncrowded. Ideal for honeymooners, families, photographers, conservation-minded travellers, and anyone wanting a seamless safari-and-beach combination in a still relatively undiscovered destination.
Best time: May–October is best for safari in Gorongosa (dry season) and pleasant beach conditions, while November–April is warmer and more humid with excellent diving and marine life; whale sharks and manta rays are most reliably seen roughly November–March.
Highlights: Gorongosa National Park (lions, wild dogs, elephants and outstanding birdlife), the Bazaruto Archipelago and Benguerra Island, pristine beaches and turquoise water, snorkelling, diving and dhow sailing (including dugongs), and a powerful conservation story.
