donated since inception
Since we started in 2021, the Save Our Wildlife Fund has donated more than R650,000 directly to field conservation work. Every rand goes toward vets, equipment and operations that protect wildlife, not toward glossy campaigns.
What we do
We support and sponsor veterinarians and conservation teams in the field. Our work includes:
Snare removals
Snares are cheap, silent and cruel. A vet who can reach an injured animal in time can often save its life. We fund the call-outs, the darting, the treatment and the aftercare.
Anti-poaching efforts
We support the people and equipment that keep poachers out of wildlife areas, from patrol support to the practical gear rangers need.
Sting operations
We back investigations that target wildlife traffickers and the networks behind them. For safety and legal reasons, we never share the details of this work publicly.
Predator collars
Tracking collars let researchers and reserve managers monitor lions, leopards, cheetahs and wild dogs, respond to conflict early and find injured animals quickly. We help fund the collars and the vet time needed to fit them safely.
Pangolin rehabilitation
Pangolins are among the most heavily trafficked mammals on earth. We help pay for the veterinary care, feeding and rehabilitation that gives confiscated and injured pangolins a chance to return to the wild.
Last-minute emergency work
Wildlife emergencies do not wait for budgets. Because the Fund is small and flexible, we can say yes quickly to urgent vet call-outs, rescues and treatments that fall outside any formal programme.
Why it matters
Southern Africa’s wildlife faces snaring, poaching, illegal trade and growing conflict with people. Large organisations and reserves do wonderful work, but they cannot always fund an emergency vet call-out on the night it happens. We fill that gap. Small, fast and well-aimed funding saves individual animals today and protects whole populations over time. Learn more about our impact below:

Who we work with
We work alongside qualified wildlife veterinarians, reserve managers and conservation teams in Hoedspruit and surrounding reserves. For the safety of animals and the people protecting them, some partners and operations are kept confidential.
